The Perfect Pairs

Winter is all about warm. Because who wants to be cold? Yes, of course tights are a girls best friend, but pants are what you reach for more. Are we right? So to ensure that you have every pair you could ever need we decided to post about it. The typical go-to pants are jeans (we prefer dark wash, and the AG brand) – great for running errands on weekends and lounging by the fire. Second – black leggings or black jeans. Because how can you really go wrong with black? They go with everything and look both dressed up and down. And lastly – how about some color? We love wearing a hot red pant with a neutral sweater (like dove grey). It’s the perfect way to heat up a winter look! XO

Brrr! It sure is chilly out there! We are smack dab in the heart of winter now folks! So why not add some color to some rather dreary days?? We love to mix it up by taking rather bold colors like hot red and emerald green and tone them down a bit. Take for instance this color blocked ensemble. By pairing muted and pastel cranberry hues, you get a soft, comfortable palette! What do you think? This is totally an outfit that reads – hey! I’m put together, but I’m laid back. Who wouldn’t like that vibe? XO

First of all – Happy Friday! And second of all – can we talk about how July 4th is basically one week away? How does this always happen? It manages to creep up on us and ends up being a total shocker! While many of us manage to escape to seaside cottages in Cape Cod, some stay in the city or are scattered in the suburbs. And no matter where you celebrate – fireworks are a must. So instead of putting together a July 4th beach inspired look, we are opting for a cute ensemble that would work for the fireworks or parade!

By now the snow has started to melt and flats are semi-acceptal. Depending on the weather it may be time to give those boots a break and take the ballet flats for a spin! Stick to camel and glittery neutrals for a comfortable, chic look!

Just because you are cozied up inside, playing board games with family and friends, drinking wine, enjoying snacks and watching movies, it doesn’t mean you should look like a slob! So how do you stay snow chic during a storm? We suggest something casual and comfortable. Dark wash jeans, black riding pants, a warm sweater, soft scarf and cozy slippers are the perfect recipe for a storm! Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, we hope you are safe and warm!

I think we can all agree that it’s fun to get dressed up. Every women has just a little more confidence when she’s wearing lipstick, tights and a flattering dress. Then there are those times when getting out of bed in freezing cold weather means wearing a cozy sweater. And we don’t hate it! At times it’s hard to wear a sweater, look fashion forward and put together. Are we right? So how do you spice up a sweater? First – we suggest it be a fun, bold color. It’s getting close to February so we have red on the mind. Add a red hot lip, black boots and a chic coat and you’re ready to take the city by storm.

A white lace skirt, white skinny jeans, your pearliest white earrings, the options are endless. So whether you’re headed to the beach or the lake, don’t forget to pack your favorite white pieces!

Singing In The Rain

So in preparation of a month where we may experience drizzly days, we have put together a little rainy day inspiration. As we transition to warmer weather you can put your heavy wool or cashmere coats away and break out your nude and navy trench coats. We love a green and pink color combo! Next time you visit the market and you want to stay dry just grab your umbrella and a pair of Hunter Wellies!

Life Colorfully

I think one of the hardest things some of our clients face, and many of the women we talk to, is color coordination. So we are here to break down the basics for you. We have even provided some examples so that you can compare them to your own closet. Last fall we discussed how to create the correct proportions. For example if you are wearing a fitted top try a flowy bottom. If you are wearing a flowy top, wear a fitted bottom. We are going to implement a similar theme to color coordination. If you wear a neutral bottom, such as black riding pants, grey or regular skinny jeans, try a punchy color on top! Colors like hot pink, coral, bright blues and greens, are all really popular for spring! We have simply paired a black flat with that ensemble to let the sweater speak for itself. Take a similar route with color on the bottom. Pair a colored skinny jean or pant with a neutral top, such as tan, black or grey. Add a metallic or nude flat to keep the look neutral but trendy.

A Little Bit Of Tough Love

Why would you succumb to the yoga pants-North Face fleece – Ugg boot frump trend, that Boston has embarssingly mastered, when you can wear something easily as comfortable and accessible on a day to day basis? We all have the basics. Yoga pants are meant for yoga, Ugg boots are meant for staying warm in your house and a North Face is necessary for gym outerwear. Other than those instances, however, the cliche ensemble is unacceptable to wear to the grocery store or to coffee with a girlfriend. We’re not trying to be mean! We are trying to help you out. You are better than this. If you feel confident in something more put together, your day is guaranteed to go well! So go invest in a pair of AG jeans, A solid colored sweater and a cute printed scarf! It will go a long way.
